An Army Lance Corporal who was struck down by a drunk minibus driver on the Pouderoyen public road, West Bank Demerara (WBD) has since succumbed to his injuries.
News Room previously reported that Marvin Dodson, 22, of Cross Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown was struck down at about 03:10h on Sunday morning by minibus BTT 8922 which was being driven by a 31-year-old driver of Schoonard, WBD.
The driver, who police said is in custody, was found to be over the legal limit of alcohol.
According to the police, Dodson was standing on the road, in front of a popular nightclub with a group of “party fans” when the bus, BTT 8922 proceeding on the same side of the road, collided with him.
Dodson was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was treated and transferred the Georgetown Public Hospital where he eventually succumbed.
It is alleged that the minibus dragged the victim some feet away and attempted to flee but was apprehended by a group of persons who allegedly assaulted him before police got to the scene and took him to seek medical attention at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
