Students urged to desist from loitering at Overpasses

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure has reconsidered its position on the usage of the overpasses on the East Bank of Demerara. A statement from the Ministry on Friday noted that citizens are only allowed to use those overpasses that have been cleared by the engineers as they await the date of commissioning.

“Citizens will be guided accordingly by Police Officers during the rush hours in the mornings and afternoons. School children especially are asked to desist from loitering (stand or wait around without apparent purpose) or playing on the overpasses during or after school hours. Head Teachers within the overpass areas are also asked to take note and be guided by this notice,” the statement noted.

The Ministry’s statement, however, did not state the overpasses that have been cleared for use by the engineers.
