A 46-year-old man was today committed to stand trial in the High Court for the attempted murder of Loshanna Boyce, who is the mother of his child.

It is alleged that on April 17, 2018, at D’Urban Street, Lodge, Cleveland Williams unlawfully and maliciously wounded Boyce with intent to commit murder.

Following the conclusion of a Preliminary Inquiry, Magistrate Judy Latchman ruled that there is sufficient evidence against Williams for him to stand trial at the High Court.

The matter was prosecuted by Corporal Shawn Gonsalves and Williams did not have legal representation.

According to reports, Williams and Boyce shared a relationship and have a two-year-old daughter.

On the day in question, there was a heated argument between the two when Williams attacked Boyce with a knife and dealt her several stabs in her back.

Boyce had a restraining order against him due to domestic abuse.

In court, Williams apologised to the victim.

Williams begged the Magistrate to be released on bail pending the High Court trial but his request was denied.
