Police are on the hunt for seven bandits who tied up two security guards and invaded Cevon’s Waste Management Company on Mandela Avenue in Georgetown in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to a police report, the armed bandits escaped with the company’s vault which contained an undisclosed amount of cash along with a Samsung Galaxy cell phone valued at $15,000 and a ZTE cell phone valued at $17,000.
It is alleged that at around 02:00hrs, the 56-year-old security guard was in the guard hut in front of the building when he was approached from behind by two of the suspects who were armed with handguns and one said, “don’t move or we gon kill you.”
They then held him at gunpoint and took him to the back of the building where the other security guard – a 64-year-old – was also held at gunpoint.
Two other gunmen then jumped the fence and broke the glass door to the building; they took the victims inside and tied them with duct tape.
According to the police, three other suspects joined the four others and relieved the victims of their valuables and escaped with the vault.
The security guards subsequently managed to untie themselves and raised an alarm.
