Visham Dial, a 61-year-old homeless man, was on Saturday found dead in the house of a fruit vendor at the Westminster Housing Scheme in La Parfaite Harmonie on the West Bank of Demerara with marks of violence on his head.
Police Headquarters said that at about 21:30 hrs on Friday, Dial, who is also called ‘Fishup’, was seen arguing with a woman who lives nearby. That was the last time the man was reportedly seen before his body was discovered on 17:00 hrs on Saturday.
When officers visited the fruit vendor’s house, where Dial would usually stay, marks of violence were seen on his forehead and blood stains were found on his face and head.
Dial was then taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead and later, taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour awaiting an autopsy.
Police said further investigations are ongoing.
