Venezuelan woman remanded for allegedly killing man

A Venezuelan woman was on Thursday remanded to prison for allegedly fatally stabbing a miner at Sandhill Backdam, Kaikan, Upper Mazaruni on February 12, 2022.

Yesica Rondon Mayo was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the manslaughter charge which alleged that she killed Beauford Watson known as Marlon, 33, of South Sophia, Georgetown.

The woman was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court for March 14, 2022.

According to reports, Mayo was at a bar imbibing with Watson and another woman when an altercation ensued.

It is alleged that Mayo armed herself with a knife and stabbed Watson about his body. As a result, Watson collapsed and subsequently died.
