Wortmanville man drowns during outing with friends

A 28-year-old Wortmanville, Georgetown resident lost his life on Sunday after he drowned during an outing with friends at a creek along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

The dead man has been identified as Kester Guillians of Bent Street, Wortmanville.

The News Room was reliably informed that Guillains left home on Sunday for the creek unknowing to his family.

His cousin, Quacy Munroe told the News Room on Monday that reports are that Guillians went swimming and disappeared.

“He went with some friends, he went into the water and that’s all they (friends) could say,” Munroe told the News Room.

According to Munroe, the friends were only alerted after they saw a group of persons removing Guillians body out of the creek.

The Police were summoned and Guillians was transported to the Diamond Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“They bought him out, based on a video there was a lot of screaming, persons asking to give him some space….and they bought him down to the hospital,” Munroe told the News Room.

Munroe said he was informed about the incident after he received a call from his aunt. “She was screaming saying he (Guillians) drowned and he was at the hospital,” he noted.
