A 38-year-old man from Paradise/Jibb, Region Two died Sunday evening after setting himself on fire.
Dead is Terry Lallo. He was a father of two and was separated from his wife for the last two years.
His saddened mother, Narine Lakerji, told the News Room that her son has been battling depression since he separated from his wife.
She said her daughter-in-law summoned him for child support and Lallo “took it on” because he was unemployed.
Lallo is a fisherman by profession and reportedly went several times to sea but did not get a profitable catch. He became frustrated.
On Sunday, he had just returned home from a trip to a nearby lake and set himself on fire.
Lakerji said she received the call around 21:00hrs and when she went to the location the house was on fire. He was her eldest son.
“Everything burned to ashes, we couldn’t save anything; I don’t know why my son did what he did. I can’t take it. I am so sick over this” the mother said.
His charred body was removed and taken to the Suddie Mortuary where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
