Optique Vision Care’s first specialty eye hospital set for Aug. 2024 completion

As Optique Vision Care celebrates its 10th anniversary, the company’s management on Friday announced that it will be spearheading the establishment of the country’s first privately-run specialty eye hospital.

Construction is currently in its first phase and the hospital is expected to be opened to the public in August 2024.

The hospital is being built along New Market Street in Georgetown.

Optique’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dhani Narine made the announcement.

He said upon completion, the hospital will complement the services already provided by Optique Vision Care and will also provide more employment opportunities for Guyanese.

“It will provide the full suite of eye care surgeries to complement our existing services to better serve the needs the Guyanese population and Caribbean region.

“As a company, we are proud to be a part of and to embrace the country’s national development plans, including medical tourism.

“We see this as the next chapter of Optique journey and look forward to providing even more employment opportunities for Guyanese,” Narine said.

Born out of a desire to ensure that every Guyanese has access to comprehensive and healthy eye care, Optique Vision Care was established in 2013. The company now has five locations across the country with a sixth location under construction.

“The management takes pride in the fact that it was created not only to deliver a consistent brand experience through comprehensive eye care but also offer quality products and services to patients across the country,” Narine said.

He added, “this is evident in the development and implementation of a Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme, the provision of diagnostic tests such as Pachymetry, retinal photography, visual field tests, OCTs, laser services and the development of training policies and procedural manuals”

Despite the challenges, Narine noted that the company was determine that it will play a pivotal role in providing the requisite services as outlined in its motto “We care, you see”.

“But more than that, our values continue to be the bedrock and the guided principle on the basis in which the company is shaped. Patient care, customer care, community and integrity,” Narine said.

Optique Vision Care has many success stories and is the first of many in the country’s optical industry to introduce a number of services.

It is offering employment opportunities to Optometrists from the University of Guyana and spearheaded the introduction of Crizal lens technology and the implementation and use of an electronic health record system.

At the ceremony held at Hermanston Lodge on Friday, Optique Vision Care also distributed spectacles to several charitable organisations.

A number of the company’s long standing employees were also recognised and awarded for their service.
