Labourer injured in another Middle Road shooting

Police investigators are probing the shooting of a 26-year-old labourer who was wounded Monday night at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown.

Injured is Shane Bourne, a resident of Laing Avenue, Georgetown.

The incident comes roughly 24 hours after a 70-year-old man was shot dead in front of his Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown home Sunday night.

The News Room understands that the shooting unfolded around 11:30 hrs after Bourne left his house on his XR motorcycle to purchase food.

According to reports, Bourne arrived at his destination and was about to dismount the motorcycle when he was approached by two men who were also on a motorcycle. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

The News Room understands that the pillion rider dismounted the motorcycle, walked up to the Bourne and asked him if he was a “bad boy” before discharging several rounds in his direction.

Bourne was shot five times to his thighs. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition.

The perpetrators made good their escape and are yet to be apprehended.

Bourne and another man, Ryan Goodluck were charged in October 2023 for the attempted murder of three men –  Sherwin Bobb, Seon Ross, and Hamilton Dickerson – during a shooting at Independence Boulevard.
