UPDATED; Man shot during robbery; remains in ICU

A man was this morning shot in the vicinity of Durban Backlands in what is understood to be a robbery.

The victim identified as Leroy Anthony Blair, a hire car driver of 528 Block X, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Blair was shot to the left side chest by a lone gunman, after which he was rushed to the hospital by public-spirited citizens and underwent surgery.

The suspects are still at large.

According to the police, “no other information is available at this time.”.

Investigations are in progress.
