Kenneth Williams to be new Region 7 Chairman; Kamala Persaud to be Vice-Chair

Already popular among the residents of Region 7, Kenneth Williams was Monday morning elected the new Chairman of the Regional Democratic Council for Region 7.

Williams, who was a candidate for the APNU+AFC coalition in the recently completed regional and general elections, held the position of Councilor in the Region and Chairman of the Finance Committee on the Bartica Town Council.

Williams is known within the Town as a religious person, a businessman, and someone who has a deep love for Bartica and Region 7.

He is also President of the Bartica Basketball Association (BBA).

He will be supported in his duties by Nageswari Kamala Persaud who was elected Vice-Chairman.

Persaud had previously served as the Deputy Mayor for Bartica and is also an APNU+AFC candidate in the recently completed regional and general elections.

The Coalition won Region 7 with 4,813 votes, according to figures from the national recount exercise.

The Chairman will now have to be sworn in by President Irfaan Ali.

    The first thing Mr. Williams should do is forget party politics and tell HE he wants to work with him for the betterment of the Region.. If he tries the Hammie model of disrupting the sitting Govt……than go along….nuttin to see here.
