ECPFA Senior League: Dartmouth Dominators, Mainstay Goalstar play to tense draw


In a display of skill and determination, the Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon Football Association Senior League continued at the weekend with a thrilling clash between Dartmouth Dominators FC and Mainstay Goalstar FC at Multi Ground.

The result of the match, a hard-fought 2-2 draw, proved that football is a game of surprises, twists and heart-stopping moments.

The match showcased the finest elements of the beautiful game- skillful strikes, well-timed tackles and unwavering determination.

Just a minute into the match, Stephon Clarke from Dartmouth Dominators FC made his mark, putting his team ahead with a lightning-quick goal.

The crowd erupted in cheers, setting the tone for a nail-biting encounter.

However, the Mainstay Goalstar FC were not to be outdone. On the 34th minute, Andron Fernandes showcased his precision and finesse by netting an equaliser that left spectators on the edge of their seats.

The first half concluded with an even scoreline of 1-1, setting the stage for an intense second half.

As the second half unfolded, anticipation grew. In the 73rd minute, Clarke, already making waves in the league, scored his second goal of the match with a masterful penalty kick, giving Dartmouth Dominators FC a 2-1 lead.

The tension escalated as the clock ticked away, and just when it seemed victory was within Dartmouth’s grasp, Mainstay Goalstar FC’s leading goal scorer, Randy De Jonge, proved his mettle.

In a heart-stopping moment at 90+8 minutes, De Jonge soared above the defenders and goalkeeper, heading the ball into the net, securing a dramatic draw for his team and sending their fans into a frenzy.

The action-packed day continued with another thrilling clash between Good Hope FC and Henrietta United FC, where passion ran high and the stakes were equally intense.

The match witnessed not only skillful plays, but also fervent competition, resulting in a game that will be remembered for its intensity.

As the battle ensued, both teams displayed fierce determination, resulting in a highly competitive contest.

The match took an unexpected turn as four players, two from each team, found themselves being shown red cards in the second half.

Despite the heated exchanges, the turning point came when second-half substitute Ezekiel Scott entered the pitch for Henrietta United FC.

With impressive speed and precision, Scott netted two goals in rapid succession, sealing a remarkable 2-0 victory for his team.

The victory was even sweeter considering the adversity they faced with player expulsions.
